Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026. This policy describes Lumber Lookup as it actually runs today. If a data practice changes, this page is updated first, and the date above changes with it.

The short version

Lumber Lookup is a B2B marketplace where forestry and lumber businesses buy and sell equipment, bid in auctions, and find service providers — and just browsing it collects nothing about you. There are no advertising trackers on this site, and no sale of personal information. The rest of this page is the same statements with their working shown.

What we collect today

  • Accounts: when you create an account, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed password so you can sign in and use your dashboard. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google for the same purpose.
  • Listings and profiles: if you sell equipment or provide services, the details you post — descriptions, prices, photos, and business information — are stored by us and shown publicly on the site, which is the point of posting them.
  • Messages and inquiries: if you contact another user through the site, your message is stored and shown to that user so they can reply.
  • Payments: paid listing and subscription plans are paid through Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us; we receive confirmation of payment and the status of your plan.
  • Hosting logs: our hosting provider processes standard server logs — IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested — to operate and secure the site. We do not use these logs to profile visitors or build advertising audiences.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising cookies, does not run third-party advertising or social-media trackers, and does not fingerprint browsers. The only cookie this site sets for a visitor who is just browsing is the one that remembers your cookie choice. If you sign in, the site also uses cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to protect the sign-in process. If analytics are added later, they will be named here — and in our Cookie Policy — with what they collect, before they are switched on, and they will not run unless you accept them. The full cookie list is always in the Cookie Policy.

Sale and sharing of personal information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Listings and provider profiles you post are public by design. Messages and inquiries go to the user you contacted. Payment information goes to Stripe to process your payment. Nothing you do on this site today is shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. California residents have these rights — to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of any sale or sharing — under the CCPA/CPRA; the route is the same for everyone: email info@lumberlookup.com with “Privacy” in the subject line. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a right. Because we hold so little, most requests are answered by confirming there is nothing to find.

Retention

Email is kept while a conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Hosting logs are retained by the provider on its standard schedule. Account, listing, and message records are kept while your account is active; if you close your account, you can ask us to delete its records using the contact below.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16; if you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes and contact

Changes to this policy are posted on this page with a new date, and changes that affect sharing take effect only after they are posted. Questions: info@lumberlookup.com.
